Jose Mourinho aims to secure full points for Benfica in their upcoming clash with Chelsea.
Jose Mourinho has made it clear that he will remain composed and focused when he takes his Benfica squad to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea tomorrow, refusing to be swayed by the emotional weight of the occasion.
At 62, Mourinho stands as one of the most iconic figures in Chelsea’s history, having secured three Premier League titles with the London club. Now at the helm of Benfica, he is determined to overcome his former team in the Champions League showdown against Enzo Maresca‘s Chelsea.
Mourinho’s Perspective
Although Mourinho’s legendary status at Stamford Bridge has diminished somewhat due to his stints managing rival clubs Manchester United and Tottenham, he does not anticipate any hostile reception from Chelsea supporters this time around, unlike the jeers he endured while coaching the Red Devils.
“I doubt Chelsea fans will boo me. In fact, when I’m out and about, they often ask for selfies and photos,” Mourinho shared with Goal.
He emphasized that his previous experiences bringing other teams to Stamford Bridge have prepared him to concentrate solely on achieving victory.
“I feel at ease here. I’ve been here before with Spurs, Manchester United, and Inter Milan,” he remarked. “But now, I’m not representing the Blues-I’m with the Reds. My goal is to win. I expect both teams to be highly motivated.”
“Chelsea will be pushing hard for a win, especially after their defeat in the opening match against Bayern Munich. We must be solid defensively if we want to come out on top. Our game plan is straightforward: to secure the victory.”
“In this Champions League campaign, we face tough opponents like Chelsea, Real Madrid, and Newcastle. Each match is a challenge. Tomorrow, we must fight for every point. I believe our schedule is even more demanding than Chelsea’s.”
