Renowned Nigerian artist Seyi Shay has highlighted the crucial role a father figure plays in the development of young girls. She pointed out that women who grow up with a positive paternal presence tend to exhibit greater emotional stability and uphold stronger values compared to those without such influence.
Challenging the widespread notion that men are dispensable in family dynamics, Seyi Shay argued that this belief is a misleading tactic that contributes to the rise of fractured households.
During her appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, she remarked, “Women who have a father figure in their lives often enjoy more stability. They typically benefit from better educational opportunities and a solid moral foundation than those who lack this support.”
She further added, “The idea that men don’t matter is simply a false narrative designed to sow discord within families, ultimately producing more broken individuals and disconnected men and women.”
At 39, the singer expressed gratitude for not having become a mother in her twenties, emphasizing that her current maturity equips her to nurture a child more effectively.
With the wisdom gained from her own experiences, she believes she can better mentor her daughter, helping her avoid the pitfalls she encountered in relationships, friendships, and other life areas.
