Shehu Sani Condemns Attacks on Pastors and Imams, Rejects Claims of Christian Genocide in Nigeria

Shehu Sani, the former Senator representing Kaduna Central, emphasized that both Christians and Muslims fall victim to the violence perpetrated by bandits and terrorists in Nigeria.
Sani highlighted that these violent groups do not show favoritism or bias based on religious affiliation when committing their atrocities.
He addressed and refuted Bill Maher’s assertion regarding a supposed targeted “Slaughter of Christians by Muslims in Nigeria,” labeling it as a complete misrepresentation of the reality on the ground.
In a statement shared on X, the ex-legislator pointed out that terrorists indiscriminately attack religious leaders and places of worship, destroying churches and mosques alike.
He stated: “In Nigeria, bandits and terrorists carry out their brutal acts without regard to whether their victims are Muslim or Christian.
“They launch assaults on churches, killing pastors, priests, and congregants; similarly, mosques are targeted where imams and Muslim worshippers are slaughtered.
“Their kidnappings and sexual violence affect individuals from all religious and ethnic backgrounds. Notably, a significant portion of their victims are Muslims, considering the regions where these groups predominantly operate. Verified information is readily available online.”
