Gunmen Abduct Prominent Lawyer, Isyaku Danjuma In Niger State As Terrorists Raid Ibeto Town

Armed terrorists launched a brazen attack on Ibeto town in Magama Local Government Area of Niger State on Wednesday, abducting prominent lawyer, Barrister Isyaku Muhammed Danjuma, along with several other residents.
The assault, which occurred in the early hours of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day celebrations, threw the community into panic as the heavily armed gunmen operated freely for hours without security intervention.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived in large numbers, brandishing sophisticated rifles “bigger than what security operatives would normally carry.” A family source disclosed that the assailants specifically targeted influential figures in the town before taking Danjuma away into the bush.

In a chilling twist, the lawyer himself had moments earlier taken to his Facebook page to warn about the invasion, writing: “Independence Day but bandits are here in Ibeto running riot.” Shortly after, he was seized.

Confirming the abduction, his associate, Mohd Gbedako Ndatsu, reacted under the post, urging Nigerians to pray for his colleague. “I just received a devastating news now that the poster has been kidnapped,” he wrote.

This incident comes barely days after SaharaReporters reported the abduction of another lawyer, Barrister Onyesom Peace Udoka, who was kidnapped with her sister along the Lokoja highway while returning from her Call to Bar ceremony in Abuja on September 27. They were later released after days in captivity.

The latest abduction has reignited fears over the worsening security crisis in Niger and neighboring states, with residents lamenting the absence of timely military or police intervention during the Ibeto attack.
