“Hospital Rejected Somtochukwu After Jumping From Her Home To Escape 14 Armed Robbers” – Okpe

The media industry has been thrown into mourning following the tragic death of Arise News anchor, Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, popularly known as Sommie, after an armed robbery incident in Abuja.

Sommie reportedly died on Monday in the Katampe area of the Federal Capital Territory, where gunmen numbering about 14 stormed her residence.

Her colleague, Ojinika Okpe, disclosed further details during the station’s morning programme on Tuesday, revealing that the young journalist did not die immediately at the scene.

According to Okpe, Sommie panicked upon learning that the heavily armed robbers had broken into her home. In an attempt to escape, she jumped from her house and sustained severe injuries.

“She didn’t die on the spot,” Okpe explained. “She was rushed to a hospital but was sadly turned away.”

The revelation has sparked outrage, with many questioning the failure of medical facilities to provide emergency care, as well as the growing wave of violent crimes in Abuja.

The late broadcaster, fondly called Sommie by colleagues, was described as a promising talent whose career was cut short by the tragic incident.
