Police arrests suspected IPOB informant in Anambra

Law enforcement officials in Adamawa have detained 72 individuals suspected of criminal activities across the state.

Commissioner of Police Morris Dankombo revealed this development during a press briefing held on Friday in Yola.

According to him, these arrests were made in connection with various offenses committed between July and September 2025.

Out of the total suspects, 57 have been formally charged and are facing prosecution, while the remaining 15 are still under investigation for different alleged crimes.

Dankombo highlighted that the arrests were the result of coordinated operations involving the Anti-Kidnapping Crack Squad, Intelligence Units, Tactical Squad, Area Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers.

The crimes attributed to the suspects encompass kidnapping, armed robbery, culpable homicide, theft, abduction, rape, and other sexual offenses.

In a related note, the CP stated, “Our team successfully seized 15 illegal firearms, including AK-47 rifles and homemade pistols, along with 111 rounds of live ammunition, seven vehicles, and 25 stolen cattle, which have since been returned to their rightful owners.”

He also reminded all police personnel to refrain from involving themselves in civil disputes, emphasizing that their responsibilities are strictly defined by the Constitution and the Police Act 2020.

Dankombo cautioned that any breach of these legal boundaries would result in stringent disciplinary actions.

“Police officers must avoid intervening in purely civil matters such as debt collection, contractual conflicts, tenancy disagreements, or family issues,” he stressed.

“The Police Act 2020 explicitly forbids the use of police resources in private disputes. Individuals with such complaints should be directed to appropriate civil courts or alternative dispute resolution channels,” he concluded.
