Abdul-Azeez Adediran, widely known as Jandor and the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) 2023 Lagos governorship candidate, has forecasted a decisive triumph for President Bola Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 presidential election.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today this past Thursday, Jandor-who has since switched allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC)-noted that the political surprises of 2023, including Tinubu’s unexpected defeat in Lagos to Labour Party’s Peter Obi, are unlikely to recur.
“Back in 2023, Jandor and the Lagos for Lagos movement were on the outside looking in. This time around, we are firmly inside the fold, so the dynamics will be completely different from what you saw last time,” he explained.
He emphasized that Tinubu’s political reach has expanded well beyond Lagos, setting the stage for a sweeping victory nationwide in 2027.
“The 2027 election will be a clear-cut win not just in Lagos but across Nigeria for the man whose bold leadership has contributed immensely to our nation’s progress,” Jandor asserted.
Although Tinubu secured the fiercely contested 2023 presidency by defeating rivals such as PDP’s Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi, his loss in Lagos was perceived as a symbolic setback.
Having left the PDP and rejoined the APC in March, Jandor attributed his return to the party’s winning mindset and reiterated his intention to vie for the Lagos governorship in 2027.
“What I shared recently is a reaffirmation of our determination to contest once more for the governorship seat we pursued in the last election cycle,” he stated.
“There won’t be any vacancy at Aso Rock until 2031, so my focus remains on the 2027 Lagos governorship race, and I have made that clear.”
Addressing rumors about President Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, potentially entering the APC’s Lagos governorship contest, Jandor expressed support for the idea, acknowledging Seyi’s qualifications and pledging collective backing if the party endorses him.
