Police arrests suspected IPOB informant in Anambra

Law enforcement officers in Ondo State have successfully apprehended ten individuals linked to an attempted murder and armed robbery incident in Igoba Community, located within Akure North Local Government Area.

Olushola Ayanlade, the spokesperson for the state police command, revealed this development in a statement issued on Saturday in Akure.

The arrests followed a violent attack on Mrs. Ogunoye Oluomo and an assassination attempt targeting the community’s traditional leader, Oba Adinlewa John, which occurred on October 2.

According to the police, a group of armed assailants equipped with firearms, knives, talismans, and other lethal weapons stormed the community with the intention of causing widespread destruction.

The police spokesperson explained, “Upon receiving the emergency alert, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, immediately deployed all available operational resources and personnel to the scene.”

“The mission was overseen by the Assistant Commissioner of Police responsible for Operations, and the tactical unit successfully detained ten suspects involved in the attack.”

“All detainees have admitted to their participation in the violent incident and will face prosecution once investigations conclude.”

Recovered items from the suspects include two homemade pistols, a single-barrel firearm, numerous live bullets, various charms, knives, machetes, and other dangerous implements used during the assault.

The injured victim is currently undergoing medical care and showing signs of recovery, while police continue efforts to apprehend additional suspects who remain at large.

“Order has been restored in Igoba Community, with an increased security presence established to prevent any further disturbances,” the statement concluded.
