Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi, a distinguished Islamic authority from Kaduna, has called on the Palestinian faction Hamas to release all Israeli civilian prisoners immediately and without any preconditions.
In a message posted on his verified Facebook page last Saturday, Sheikh Gumi criticized Hamas’s decision to detain hostages, labeling it a critical misstep in their strategy.
He urged the group to rethink their tactics and concentrate on reclaiming their ancestral homeland through what he described as a “righteous and dignified application of force.”
This statement was made in light of Hamas’s readiness to free Israeli captives as part of a ceasefire arrangement facilitated by U.S. President Donald Trump, who also advocated for an immediate cessation of Israeli air raids on Gaza.
Sheikh Gumi stated, “The release of all civilian detainees must be unconditional. Holding them captive was a serious error from the beginning.
“Hamas should redirect their efforts toward reclaiming their homeland through just and honorable resistance. Defending their rights is legitimate. With Allah’s blessing, triumph is near,” he affirmed.
