Wike, Fubara, and Amaewhule Convene with Rivers Elders Council for Strategic Dialogue

Wike, Fubara, Amaewhule Meet Rivers Elders Council

On Saturday evening in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, a significant gathering took place involving key political figures: the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike; Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara; and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule. They convened with members of the Rivers State Elders Council, who were led by their chairman, Chief Ferdinand Alabraba.

Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant to the FCT Minister on Public Communication and New Media, shared images from the event on his social media platforms early Sunday. He described the meeting as a clear sign of solidarity within the political family.

In his post, Olayinka highlighted the presence of the FCT Minister, Governor Fubara, Chief Alabraba, Speaker Amaewhule, and other prominent leaders, emphasizing the unity among them. He stated, “The political family stands united.”

Despite the public display of cohesion, no additional information regarding the agenda, outcomes, or resolutions from the meeting was disclosed. Attempts by our correspondent to obtain further insights from the media aide were met with a refusal to comment.

According to LEADERSHIP, this assembly marks the first official meeting of these key stakeholders since the reinstatement of Governor Fubara, his deputy Professor Ngozi Odu, and the members of the Rivers State House of Assembly on September 18, 2025. Their return followed a six-month state of emergency imposed by President Bola Tinubu on March 18, 2025, in response to an extended political crisis within the state.
