Kano Anti-Graft Agency Launches Probe into Alleged N4bn Diversion of Dala Dry Port Shares Under Ganduje

Kano Anti-graft Agency Probes Alleged Diversion Of N4bn Dala Dry Port Shares Under Ganduje

The Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) of Kano State has initiated a formal inquiry into allegations concerning the misappropriation of more than ₦4 billion in state funds, reportedly connected to the Dala Inland Dry Port project during the tenure of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

PCACC Chairman Saidu Yahya confirmed that the investigation was triggered by numerous complaints submitted by vigilant members of the public.

The inquiry centers on claims that contracts valued in the billions of naira for the port’s infrastructure were awarded soon after the state’s 20% equity stake in the project was allegedly transferred to relatives of the ex-governor in 2020.

According to reports, this transaction effectively removed Kano State’s ownership rights, replacing them with directorships and shareholdings held by some of Ganduje’s children in the lucrative venture.

“Indeed, we have received several petitions alleging the diversion of over ₦4 billion of Kano State’s resources into the Dala Inland Dry Port during the immediate past administration of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje,” Yahya stated.

He added that multiple individuals connected to the case have been summoned for interrogation, with one suspect detained and subsequently released on bail after providing valuable information.

Yahya emphasized that sufficient preliminary evidence has been gathered to establish a prima facie case, and the matter is expected to be formally prosecuted in court soon.
