Get Ready, Nigeria! Customs Recruitment CBT Exams Kick Off an Exciting New Era Starting October 9!

Nigeria Customs to hold CBT exams for recruitment exercise on Oct 9

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced the schedule for its upcoming Computer-Based Test (CBT), set to take place on October 9, 2025. This examination targets candidates vying for positions as Inspectors and Customs Assistants.

The official notification was released on Tuesday through the NCS’s verified X (formerly Twitter) handle and Facebook page, marking a significant phase in the recruitment process.

Prior to this, from October 4 to 6, applicants for junior roles underwent a mandatory orientation test designed to acquaint them with the online testing platform ahead of the main exam.

Examination Schedule and Instructions

The NCS confirmed that the primary online recruitment test for all shortlisted candidates in the Inspectorate and Customs Assistant categories will be conducted on Thursday. Participants will be divided into three separate groups for the assessment.

“Applicants are assigned to one of three groups-A, B, or C-and must access the portal at https://updates.customs.gov.ng using their National Identification Number (NIN) to confirm their group, exam date, and time.”

Strict adherence to the assigned schedule is mandatory; failure to comply may lead to disqualification.

During the test, the use of calculators, mobile phones, or any electronic devices is prohibited.

The NCS also warned candidates against multiple logins or switching between browser tabs during the exam, as such actions could interrupt the session and result in automatic disqualification.

It is important to note that this recruitment phase is exclusively for candidates applying for Inspector and Customs Assistant roles; those seeking Superintendent positions are excluded from this stage.

  • Shortlisted candidates may take the CBT from any location with reliable internet access.
  • The test must be completed on a laptop or desktop computer equipped with a webcam and capable of full-screen mode, as mobile devices are not supported by the testing system.

Recruitment Background and Process Overview

The 2025 recruitment campaign began in December 2024 after federal approval to hire 3,927 officers across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant ranks. This recruitment drive aims to improve trade facilitation and strengthen Nigeria’s economic development by enhancing border security and boosting revenue collection.

The application period ran from December 27, 2024, to January 2, 2025, drawing thousands of applicants nationwide. The selection process includes multiple stages, starting with document verification and online application, followed by a compulsory pre-test.

Applicants for the Superintendent cadre have already completed both the pre-test and the main online examination. Due to heavy traffic on the application portal during the initial phase, shortlisted candidates were divided into four groups-A, B, C, and D-to ensure a smoother testing experience.
