Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Barcelona in race to sign Eagles captain

Marc Guehi is expected to have his pick of destinations when his Crystal Palace contract expires next summer.

European giants are lining up for Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi, with Real Madrid reportedly entering the fierce competition already led by Liverpool, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich.

Liverpool are currently considered the frontrunner for Guéhi’s signature, but their move for the 25-year-old collapsed on the last transfer deadline day. The England international had reportedly agreed to personal terms with the Reds, but Crystal Palace was unable to secure an adequate replacement, stalling the deal.

Guehi to Real Madrid?

However, Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg claims that Real Madrid are now also firmly in the race for the former Chelsea defender, who is now in the final 12 months of his contract with the Eagles.

Any move in January is unlikely, and the more plausible scenario is a free transfer next summer.

While Real Madrid’s primary target remains Ibrahima Konaté, their defensive priorities have shifted slightly since William Saliba committed his future to Arsenal with a new contract extension.

This has forced the 15-time European champions to explore other viable options, with Guéhi appearing to be their top alternative.

Despite signing Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, and Álvaro Carreras last summer, Los Blancos are still actively in the market for at least one defensive reinforcement for the 2026 season.

This urgency stems from the uncertain future of their defensive veterans. Both Antonio Rüdiger and David Alaba are entering the final 12 months of their respective contracts, and the club has yet to offer either player an extension.
