On October 2nd, Munich airport was forced to shut down after a suspected drone breach, leading to the cancellation of numerous flights and leaving thousands of travelers stranded just before a major German holiday and the renowned Oktoberfest celebrations.
Just a week prior, Danish airports in Copenhagen and Aalborg were temporarily closed due to reports of “unmanned aerial vehicles” operating within Danish airspace. Since a cluster of Russian drones crossed into Polish airspace-three of which were intercepted-there has been a surge in similar incidents reported throughout Germany, the Baltic states, and Nordic countries, frequently targeting critical infrastructure such as power stations and military installations.
