Celebrated Nigerian musician Spyro recently opened up about the overwhelming anxiety and self-doubt that shadowed him for years, confessing that he once feared financial collapse was unavoidable.
In a heartfelt interview with TV host Frank Edoho, the artist known for the popular song “Who Is Your Guy” shared how growing up under the strict guidance of his pastor father planted a deep-rooted feeling of inadequacy within him.
“I honestly believed I was destined to be broke. The fear of failure was a constant companion. My father’s frequent reminders that I wasn’t measuring up only intensified this feeling,” Spyro revealed.
He went on to explain that while his father’s stern approach was likely intended to teach discipline, the continual criticism took a significant toll on his emotional health.
“I don’t blame him, knowing that pastors often raise their children with a firm hand to keep them aligned with their principles,” he added.
Spyro also admitted that this sense of falling short persisted well into his school years.
“Even during my secondary school days, that fear never left me. I internalized it so deeply that I started to truly believe I was a failure,” he confessed.
Looking back on his journey, Spyro described his evolution from doubt to success as a powerful example of perseverance and inner strength.
