John Mikel Obi, former Chelsea midfielder, has praised Moises Caicedo as an all-around player following his standout display against Liverpool.
In a tightly contested Premier League clash last Saturday, Chelsea edged out the reigning champions Liverpool with a 2-1 win.
Caicedo showcased exceptional skill throughout the match, opening the scoring with a powerful long-range strike in the first half.
Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo managed to equalize in the second half, but Chelsea clinched victory in stoppage time thanks to a decisive goal from Willian Estevao.
Mikel Obi Applauds Caicedo’s Impact
The former Nigerian international was particularly impressed by Caicedo’s commanding presence in midfield. During an episode of the Obi One Podcast, Mikel Obi expressed high regard for the Ecuadorian’s performance.
“At this moment, no other midfielder offers Chelsea what Caicedo brings to the table,” the Champions League winner remarked.
He continued, “He’s phenomenal in every aspect-disrupting opposition plays, initiating attacks, always the first to the ball, showing aggression, and leading by example. He embodies the qualities of a complete footballer.”
Mikel also emphasized Caicedo’s increasing offensive threat, noting, “He’s now contributing goals and confidently shooting from distance. He’s truly justified the investment Chelsea made in him.”
As the Premier League pauses for the international break, Chelsea find themselves trailing Arsenal by five points and Liverpool by four in the title race.
