Kylian Mbappe, the star forward for Real Madrid, has come to the defense of Barcelona‘s young talent, Lamine Yamal, urging the public and media to refrain from meddling in the teenager’s private affairs.
In recent months, the 18-year-old Spanish prodigy has been at the center of several controversies, including rumors linking him romantically to 30-year-old influencer Fati Vasquez.
Additionally, Yamal faced backlash after hosting a birthday celebration where entertainers of short stature were hired, sparking debate and criticism.
Mbappe emphasized Yamal’s exceptional abilities on the field and expressed that the focus should remain on his football rather than his personal life. Speaking on Universo Valdano, Mbappe remarked, “He clearly has immense passion for the game, and that’s what truly matters. Beyond that, it’s his private life, and people need to respect that boundary. On the pitch, he’s a remarkable player, but off it, he’s still just a teenager. At 18, everyone stumbles sometimes-some choices are right, others less so.”
He continued, “Ultimately, Yamal will gain valuable life lessons and understand what’s best for him. What counts is his performance during matches. As long as his off-field actions aren’t harmful, they shouldn’t overshadow his talent. He’s destined for a bright future, and I wish him all the success.”
The two young stars are set to clash on October 26th in the highly anticipated El Clásico showdown between Real Madrid and Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
