Jack Wilshere is reportedly poised to embark on his first permanent managerial role with a new club.
Jack Wilshere, the former Arsenal midfielder, has emerged as the leading candidate for the managerial position at Luton Town, according to recent reports.
The 33-year-old has engaged in talks with the Luton Town hierarchy and is favored to succeed Matt Bloomfield, who was relieved of his duties earlier this week.
Although Richie Wellens, the Leyton Orient manager, was among the final contenders, Wilshere is reportedly on the verge of securing the position, with formal agreements still pending.
Wilshere’s latest coaching experience came as interim manager at Norwich City, where he oversaw the final two fixtures of last season following the dismissal of Johannes Hoff Thorup.
Despite this, he was not appointed permanently, as Norwich opted to bring in Liam Manning. Wilshere was also linked with the Plymouth Argyle managerial vacancy before Tom Cleverley was named head coach.
Luton Town, having faced consecutive relegations in recent seasons, have struggled to find form in the 2025-26 League One campaign, suffering five losses in their first 11 matches and currently sitting 11th in the standings.
Prior to his interim role at Norwich, Wilshere worked as the Under-18 coach at Arsenal. The ex-midfielder earned 34 caps for England and made 197 appearances for Arsenal, with subsequent spells at West Ham United and Bournemouth rounding out his playing career.
