Calvin Bassey, the Fulham and Super Eagles defender, joyfully hoisted the President of the Nigerian Football Federation in celebration following Nigeria‘s emphatic victory over Benin, according to Soccernet.ng.

Under the guidance of coach Eric Chelle, the Nigerian team faced the challenge of beating Benin’s Cheetahs by a minimum of four goals at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on the evening of October 14, 2025.

Victor Osimhen wasted no time in calming early tensions by netting a goal just three minutes into the match. He went on to score two additional goals before being substituted in the 81st minute for Tolu Arokodare.

Frank Onyeka sealed Nigeria’s commanding victory with a goal in stoppage time (91st minute), securing their spot in the playoff round after South Africa’s win over Rwanda.
