Rooney’s Perspective
During a recent episode of his podcast, Rooney shed light on the mounting expectations facing Liverpool as they aim to recover from a string of unfavorable outcomes.
He pointed out that Jurgen Klopp and his squad, having benefited from a fortnight’s rest, should be rejuvenated and prepared for this crucial fixture.
Liverpool enters this contest after suffering defeats against Crystal Palace, Galatasaray, and Chelsea, with a challenging schedule still ahead.
Rooney believes these setbacks will only strengthen the determination of both the team and their passionate fanbase.
“When a club with Liverpool’s prestige endures three consecutive losses, it sparks a deep sense of pride. The supporters are astute; they grasp the seriousness and will rally behind their team,” he remarked.
Considering the current scenario, Rooney views a draw as a meaningful result for Manchester United.
“If United manage to leave Anfield with a point, it would represent a significant accomplishment,” he explained.
He further contrasted the expectations placed on the two sets of fans, suggesting Liverpool faces greater pressure.
“I suspect United fans aren’t anticipating a win here as much as in other matches. Their mindset will likely be that securing a draw is a positive outcome,” Rooney added.
“Conversely, if Liverpool were to endure a fourth straight defeat, including this one at home against United, the scrutiny and pressure on them would escalate dramatically.”
