Nottingham Forest have reportedly pinpointed an ideal candidate to succeed Ange Postecoglou following his dismissal after the loss to Chelsea.
Following the departure of Ange Postecoglou, Nottingham Forest are now on the hunt for their third manager before November arrives.
According to David Ornstein from The Athletic, the club has initiated discussions with Roberto Mancini as a prime candidate to take over the managerial reins. Postecoglou was relieved of his duties after failing to secure a single victory in eight Premier League matches.
Forest’s talks with the 60-year-old Italian manager highlight his distinguished career, which notably includes steering Manchester City to FA Cup triumph in 2011 and clinching their first-ever Premier League title the following year.
With Forest teetering near the relegation zone, Mancini’s extensive expertise could prove invaluable. His tenure as Italy’s head coach culminated in Euro 2020 success, although his subsequent period with the national side ended on a less positive note.
Postecoglou’s short-lived spell was marred by growing discontent among supporters, with chants mocking his imminent dismissal becoming commonplace.
The decisive 3-0 home loss to Chelsea ultimately led to his exit. Additionally, former Burnley manager Sean Dyche has been in discussions for the vacant position, but no agreement has been reached yet.
Meanwhile, Chelsea’s commanding 3-0 victory not only dashed Forest’s hopes but also reinforced their pursuit of the Premier League title.
