Nottingham Forest and Ange Postecoglou Split After Struggling Through Winless Streak

Nottingham Forest sack Ange Postecoglou after winless run

Nottingham Forest have officially ended their association with head coach Ange Postecoglou following a disappointing run that saw the club fail to win any of their eight matches within just over five weeks.

This brief spell now holds the record for the shortest permanent managerial tenure in Premier League history.

The Australian coach’s departure came on the heels of a crushing 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday, marking Forest’s fourth consecutive league loss.

Within thirty minutes of the final whistle, the club confirmed Postecoglou’s removal from his position.

In an official statement, Nottingham Forest declared, “Following a series of unsatisfactory results and performances, Ange Postecoglou has been relieved of his duties as head coach with immediate effect. No further comments will be provided at this time.”

Postecoglou, 60, was appointed on September 9, taking over from Nuno Espirito Santo, just months after leading Tottenham Hotspur to Europa League qualification.

However, his tenure quickly unraveled as Forest managed only two draws and suffered six defeats across all competitions.

In the Premier League, the team earned just one point from five matches, slipping to 17th place-barely above the relegation zone.

Fan frustration boiled over during Saturday’s clash, with many home supporters leaving early after Reece James scored Chelsea’s third goal, while visiting fans taunted with chants of “you’re getting sacked in the morning.”

Sources indicate that club owner Evangelos Marinakis left his seat before the match concluded, with the announcement of Postecoglou’s exit following shortly after.

This marks Nottingham Forest’s third managerial change this season, highlighting a turbulent and unstable beginning to their Premier League campaign.
