US Embassy Alerts Public on Safety Concerns Ahead of Planned Demonstrations

In response to upcoming protests, security forces have intensified their presence at key access points throughout the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), concentrating efforts particularly within the central business district. This heightened vigilance coincides with preparations by Omoyele Sowore and supporters of the detained Nnamdi Kanu, who are organizing demonstrations.

Strict security protocols have been implemented around the Presidential Villa, the epicenter of Nigeria’s executive power, to prevent protesters from gaining proximity to the government’s core operations.

These precautions are designed to uphold public order and minimize the risk of clashes near the seat of government.

Earlier, Sowore announced intentions to lead a march to the Presidential Villa, aiming to submit a petition advocating for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, who has been in custody since June 2021.

According to reports from BusinessDay, security personnel began restricting access to major roads as early as 4 a.m. on Monday, though they continue to permit movement for those conducting essential business activities.
