Ex-Turkish Star Slams Besiktas for Snubbing Super Eagles’ Onuachu in Favor of Abraham: “They Missed a Golden Opportunity!

Former Turkey international Sinan Engin has openly expressed his disappointment with Besiktas for choosing to sign Tammy Abraham over pursuing Paul Onuachu.

During the recent summer transfer window, Nigerian forward Paul Onuachu attracted significant interest from several Turkish clubs, Besiktas included.

However, Onuachu eventually secured a loan deal with their rivals Trabzonspor, where he has quickly become an indispensable asset.

The towering striker has netted seven goals in just nine matches this season, playing a crucial role for the Black Sea Storm.

Sinan Engin’s Critique

Looking at the current scenario, Sinan Engin voiced his displeasure regarding Tammy Abraham’s contributions, drawing a stark comparison to Onuachu’s outstanding form.

“Last season, Besiktas had a more robust lineup. So, why did they pour resources into multiple new signings?” Engin pondered, as reported by Beyaz Futbol.

“They should have preserved their core squad and simply added a striker, but not Abraham. Opting for a player like Onuachu would have been a wiser decision.”

Despite investing over €30 million during the summer transfer window, Besiktas have yet to meet the lofty expectations set for this season.

Currently, the Istanbul-based club sits sixth in the league standings, having collected 13 points from eight matches, including a disappointing 2-1 defeat to newly promoted Genclerbirligi last weekend.

One of their headline signings, Tammy Abraham, has struggled to find his best form.

The ex-Chelsea forward has scored only three goals in eight outings, a performance that has drawn criticism from supporters and analysts alike.

Conversely, Onuachu’s stellar displays have helped Trabzonspor climb to second place in the Super Lig, positioning them as serious title contenders this season.
