Chelsea were ruthless against the Dutch side Ajax as they claimed a comfortable victory in their UEFA Champions League game.
The Blues have been in excellent form in the last couple of games, securing victories against Liverpool and Nottingham Forest heading into the clash.
They needed a win to maintain their momentum in the UCL after losing their first game to Bayern Munich and getting a narrow win against Benfica.
And they did it in style by thrashing Ajax 5-1 on the night to extend their winning streak in all competitions.
As it happened
Chelsea made 10 changes to their squad. Enzo Fernandez and Wesley Fofana return from injury and are recalled to the starting lineup.
The sole player retaining his spot from the 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest is Romeo Lavia, who only played 45 minutes in that match.
Meanwhile, the struggling Ajax side featured Liverpool loanee James McConnell as they sought their first win in the Champions League.
The first half was full of goals, with five goals scored, four from Chelsea and one from Ajax, before the half-time break.

Marc Guiu scored the first goal before the visitors got a red card. Moisés Caicedo then added the second before Wout Weghorst got one back for Ajax.
Following Weghorst’s goal, the floodgate was opened as Enzo Fernández and Estêvão scored from the spot kick to make it four.
In the second half, Tyrique George scored the fifth to mark his first Champions League goal as a Chelsea player.
The Blues maintained their momentum and controlled the rest of the game until the final whistle to seal a comfortable victory.
