Liverpool bounced back from losing four matches in a row as the Reds made light work of Frankfurt away from home
Liverpool scored five times before Mohamed Salah came on in the 74th minute as they came from behind to beat Frankfurt 5-1.
The Reds enjoyed goals from Hugo Ekitike, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Cody Gakpo, and Dominic Szoboszlai, with Florian Wirtz providing assists for the last two goals.
Frankfurt vs Liverpool: How it happened
The hosts struck first through Rasmus Kristensen’s precise finish off the post, sending the home crowd into raptures.
But Liverpool quickly flipped the script as former Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike punished his old club with a composed equaliser after being played through by Andrew Robertson.
Virgil van Dijk then powered in a header from a Cody Gakpo corner before Ibrahima Konaté made it 3-1 with another thunderous header just before halftime, leaving Frankfurt stunned.
Arne Slot’s men dominated after the break, showcasing a ruthless attacking edge. Federico Chiesa came close soon after coming on, while Florian Wirtz impressed in midfield, twice testing goalkeeper Michael Zetterer.
Liverpool’s fourth came via Gakpo, who tapped in from Wirtz’s unselfish cut-back, before Dominik Szoboszlai smashed home a fifth to seal the rout. The win not only reignited Liverpool’s confidence but extended their unbeaten run against German opposition to 15 matches, dating back to 2002.
For Frankfurt, it was another humbling European night, their third straight 5-1 scoreline in this UCL campaign.
