Chelsea Football Club has reportedly expanded its UEFA Champions League roster by registering 33 players ahead of their upcoming clash with Ajax.
Under the guidance of Enzo Maresca, the team aims to capitalize on their recent momentum. They secured a notable victory against Benfica in their last Champions League fixture and have also triumphed over Liverpool and Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
At present, Chelsea sits 19th in the 36-team Champions League group stage, having accumulated three points from two matches. Their results include a loss to Bayern Munich and a win against Benfica, placing them mid-table as they prepare for the next round.
These additional players will be registered on the B list, a category recognized by UEFA regulations. According to UEFA rules, clubs are limited to a maximum of 25 players on their primary List A for the season.
Furthermore, the squad composition must include at least eight players who are ‘locally trained’ or ‘club-trained,’ alongside four ‘association-trained’ players. Clubs are required to specify the classification of each player within these categories.
Looking ahead, Chelsea is determined to maintain their winning streak as they face Ajax and other opponents in the competition. Their objective is to secure a spot among the top eight teams, which guarantees automatic progression to the Champions League knockout stages.
