In Sunday’s midterm elections, the party led by Argentina’s far-right president, Javier Milei, emerged victorious following a campaign marked by US President Donald Trump’s announcement of a $40 billion financial rescue package for Argentina, contingent upon Milei’s electoral success.
With over 95% of votes tallied, Milei’s political group, La Libertad Avanza, secured 40.84% of the national vote in what was widely interpreted as a referendum on the anarcho-capitalist leader’s nearly two-year tenure.
