The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially approved the admission of 85 underage candidates who demonstrated outstanding performance in its rigorous selection process.
This announcement was made by the Board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, during a press conference held on Monday in Abuja.

Following a comprehensive evaluation that included document verification, interviews, and academic assessments, these 85 individuals were confirmed to have met the stringent admission standards and have been granted clearance to enroll.

Benjamin further advised the successful candidates to promptly visit their respective institutions to finalize admission procedures and collect their official JAMB admission letters.

The Board emphasized that this special admission process aligns with international best practices, treating such exceptional cases with due diligence rather than as routine occurrences.

“In the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), out of 2,031,133 candidates, 41,027 applied under this special consideration category. Among them, 599 candidates achieved the minimum threshold of 80% in the UTME,” the statement disclosed.

“These 599 candidates underwent further scrutiny of their academic records and Post-UTME assessments, resulting in a shortlist of 182 finalists (178 plus 4),” it added.

“After thorough verification, interviews, and screening, 85 candidates fulfilled all admission criteria and have been authorized to proceed,” the announcement concluded.

The examination body also encouraged candidates who missed the screening stage to seek assistance without delay.

“Any of the 182 finalists unable to attend the final interview due to valid reasons are urged to submit an appeal via the JAMB Support Ticketing System under the newly established category ‘2025 Underage Complaint.’

“Each appeal will be evaluated individually. This opportunity is exclusively available to the 182 finalists who missed the concluding interview for legitimate causes,” the Board clarified.

“Additionally, candidates who scored 320 and above in the UTME but were disqualified for failing to upload their O-Level results have been granted a two-day extension, until Wednesday, 29th October 2025, to submit their documents and notify the Board through the ticketing platform,” the statement concluded.
