The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has declared its intention to commence the legal forfeiture of Proxy Night Club situated in Victoria Island, Lagos, following a weekend operation that uncovered a large-scale narcotics-fueled gathering at the venue.
According to a press release from Femi Babafemi, NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy based in Abuja, nightclub owners and party attendees are strongly warned against facilitating or engaging in events involving illicit drugs.
“The Agency will intensify surveillance and apply the law decisively against violators. Property holders, hotel administrators, and event venue operators who knowingly allow such illegal activities risk having their properties confiscated and handed over to the Federal Government.”
“Those apprehended during this ongoing probe will be prosecuted, and we will proceed with the seizure of Proxy Night Club, the site where the narcotics were uncovered,” the statement further emphasized.
Summary of the Incident
On Sunday, October 26, 2025, the NDLEA confirmed the arrest of Lagos socialite Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, widely recognized as Pretty Mike, alongside more than 100 partygoers during a late-night crackdown at Proxy Night Club in Victoria Island.
The raid was initiated following intelligence reports about a drug-centered event. Undercover operatives from the NDLEA arrived at the club around 11 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, and monitored the situation until the enforcement action was carried out at 3 a.m. the next morning.
Authorities seized numerous cartons containing illegal substances, including Loud cannabis and nitrous oxide (commonly known as laughing gas), confiscated from both attendees and the club’s storage facilities.
The NDLEA confirmed that the operation was conducted in strict compliance with its Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring all detainees underwent comprehensive screening to determine their level of involvement.
NDLEA’s Stance
The agency firmly reiterated that hosting or attending drug-fueled parties is a criminal offense under the NDLEA Act, punishable by severe legal consequences.
“Events organized for the purpose of using, distributing, or abusing illegal substances constitute criminal acts. Such ‘drug parties’ blatantly contravene the provisions of the NDLEA Act and will be prosecuted as grave narcotics violations,” the NDLEA stated.
The gathering was described as a flagrant violation of the law, with organizers brazenly distributing promotional materials encouraging participation in illicit activities. This not only promotes unlawful conduct but also undermines the authority of law enforcement if left unchallenged.
While the majority of attendees were profiled, counseled, and released within hours following international best practices, the primary suspects-Pretty Mike and his manager, Joachin Millary-remain in custody. Officials confiscated a total of 384.882 kilograms of Canadian Loud, a highly potent cannabis variant, along with other contraband from the club premises.
Appeal for Public Support
The NDLEA called on Nigerians to remain vigilant and actively participate in efforts to combat drug abuse, which it identified as a growing menace threatening the nation’s youth and public health.
The agency encouraged parents, religious leaders, community influencers, and concerned citizens to report suspicious behavior and collaborate closely with the NDLEA to protect the country’s welfare.
