Yomi Fabiyi Alleges Conspiracy in Baba Ijesha Case After Appeal Court Acquittal

Fresh controversy has trailed the release of Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha following a successful appeal that overturned his conviction for child segxwal assault. Actor and activist Yomi Fabiyi has alleged that the case against Baba Ijesha was a coordinated setup involving comedian Princess and her associates.
Fabiyi issued the claims in a lengthy statement shared online shortly after Baba Ijesha walked out of prison on November 14, 2025 — more than three years after his initial conviction.

According to Fabiyi, the Appeal Court’s decision clearing the actor of wrongdoing vindicates long-held concerns about the investigation and the events leading to his arrest.

“You are now officially free and out. Baba Ijesha is not just back but better,” Fabiyi wrote, insisting that the court’s ruling proved the actor never abused any minor. He described the earlier allegations as “a charade” driven by “sentiments and wickedness.”

Fabiyi went on to accuse comedian Princess and those around her of engineering a “trap,” making several claims about inconsistencies in the case. Among the allegations, he asserted that:

– Age manipulation was involved, arguing there was no conclusive evidence the girl at the centre of the case was 14.

– A neighbour, Damola Adekola — described as an associate of Princess — allegedly had inappropriate relations with the girl but was released without prosecution.

– The girl was “groomed,” and evidence such as DNA findings allegedly contradicted the initial accusations against Baba Ijesha.

– Hidden cameras installed during the sting operation amounted to “child pornography.”

– The girl was subjected to further trauma in the process of gathering evidence.

Fabiyi stressed that his human rights organisation does not condone segxwal abuse of any kind but is committed to fighting “selective justice” and what he called organized attempts to destroy reputations.

The allegations have sparked heated discussions online, with many awaiting an official response from those named in Fabiyi’s statement. Authorities have not issued any fresh comments on the claims.
