..All 24 members are now in APC – Speaker
John Kizito Bonzena, the Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly and other 16 members who were elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday defected from thw PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The speaker first presented his letter of resignation from the PDP to APC, he therefore read letters of the 16 other members of the PDP All the sixteen members were on the floors of the hallowed Chambers to confirm their consent to their letters of resignation and their decision to dump PDP to APC.

The speaker and the 16 other members stated that the crisis at the national level of the PDP necessited their decision to dump the party for APC.
“The main reason we defect from PDP to APC is purely because of the crisis in the party at the national level. The intention to move to APC is for the interest of the people of the State, is not personal.

With the defection of the 16 members of the House of Assembly of the PDP to APC, the speaker also stated that all the 24 members of the Taraba State House of Assembly belong to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
BusinessDay reports that Agbu Kefas, the Taraba State governor, had announced his decision to dump the PDP for APC on Wednesday, 19th November 2025, so, the mass defection of State Assembly’s lawmakers as a precursor to the governor’s defection.
