Barely 24 hours after gunmen attacked a church in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, another tragedy has struck, this time in Bokungi Village, Edu Local Government Area, where two farmers were killed and four others abducted during a raid on Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. while the victims were concluding their harvest for the day.
According to community sources, the attackers swooped on the farmers during peak harvesting hours, surrounding them as they gathered their rice from the fields.
A community leader in Bokungi, who confirmed the incident, said the farmers attempted to flee when the armed men approached.
“Four farmers who were closest to them were taken away. Three others ran, but two were shot dead while one escaped with injuries,” he said.

According to the source, the deceased have since been buried in the community.
Residents reported that the assailants operated unchallenged for several minutes before leaving with the captives.
