Uzee Usman honoured internationally as Nollywood's peace advocate

Usman Adeyemi, a Nollywood actor, filmmaker, and entertainment entrepreneur popularly known as Uzee Usman, is gaining renewed international visibility as global bodies continue to acknowledge his contributions to peace promotion, cultural diplomacy, and creative industry development.

Uzee, who has emerged as one of Nollywood’s most prominent voices for unity and social impact, received fresh recognition at the 15th Peace Achievers International Awards, where he was honoured with the Actor of the Year and Entertainment Excellence Award.

The organisers praised him as “a creative ambassador whose work continues to promote peace, understanding, and positive global values.”

The honour adds to a growing list of international accolades celebrating the filmmaker’s influence beyond cinema.

At the Global Entrepreneur Festival in Ghana, he was not only presented with another award but was also officially unveiled as an Ambassador, reinforcing his rising status as a cross-continental cultural advocate and youth development champion.

Speaking after the awards, Uzee said the recognitions reaffirm his mission to use film and entertainment as instruments for global transformation.

“I will continue to use my platform and voice to impact cultural advocacy, peace, and empower the next generation globally,” he said. “These recognitions encourage me to do more, to tell the right stories, and to spread love through the movie industry.”

He described his achievements as a “divine responsibility” that goes beyond personal success. According to him, storytelling carries the power to heal and to bridge divides.

“God has given me this talent for a purpose, and that purpose goes beyond entertainment,” he said. “Film is a powerful medium. It can heal, it can educate, and it can bring divided people together. That is why promoting peace will always be at the centre of my work.”

With his recent ambassadorial role and multiple recognitions, stakeholders say the actor is well positioned to amplify his influence across Africa’s creative and peace-building landscapes.

As his global profile grows, Uzee Usman continues to demonstrate how Nollywood’s storytelling power can advance cultural diplomacy, youth empowerment, and peace advocacy—one impactful narrative at a time.
