Senate screens Christopher Musa for Defence Minister job



The Senate has commenced the screening of Christopher Musa, the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, General, as the new Minister of Defence.

Musa’s nomination follows the resignation of Mohammed Badaru, the former Minister of Defence, who stepped down citing health-related reasons.

Consequently, President Bola Tinubu announced Musa as a replacement and sent his name to the Senate for screening and confirmation.

The Senate, through its leader, announced that Musa was going to be screened in an executive session after a brief introduction.

The Senate, therefore, suspended the rule to allow for strangers to come into the chamber.

Musa was escorted into the chamber by fellow retired Major Generals.
