Zuma FM marks 20 years with 9th agricultural harvest festival



Zuma 88.5 FM has marked 20 years of uninterrupted broadcasting with the hosting of the 9th edition of the Zuma Agricultural Harvest Festival.

In a statement signed by Shuaibu Kere Ahmed, managing director Zuma FM, it stated that the festival reinforces its standing as the longest running private sector led agricultural and rural development media platform in Northern Nigeria.

The anniversary event, held on Saturday, December 13th attracted strong federal level participation, highlighting the growing national recognition of the station’s development role beyond Niger State.

Among dignitaries present were Ibrahim Shelleng, senior special assistant on climate change stakeholder engagement, Presidency; Mohammed Abu Ibrahim, executive secretary, Nation Agricultural Development Fund; Bello Bawa Bwari, director general, National Biosafety Management Agency; Adamu Tanko member, House of Representatives, representing Suleja Tafa Gurara Federal Constituency; and Rabiu Ibrahim, special adviser media, minister of Information and National Orientation.

The turnout of senior government officials and federal agencies underscored increasing acknowledgement of Zuma FM’s contributions to agricultural advocacy, rural inclusion, climate engagement and development communication over the past two decades.

The statement read, “since its establishment, the station has maintained a strong grassroots presence, while the Agricultural Harvest Festival has, over nine editions, provided a practical interface between farmers, policymakers, financial institutions and development agencies.”

Organisers said the festival continues to translate public policy and institutional support into tangible outcomes for rural communities, using radio as a tool for mobilisation and impact.

The 20th anniversary celebration reaffirmed 10 Zuma FM’s founding vision of positioning media as infrastructure for development, with the station continuing to demonstrate how trusted community broadcasting can support agricultural transformation and inclusive rural growth.
