Governor Mutfwang officially defects to APC, receives membership card

Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, Plateau state governor has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), ending weeks of political speculation following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor received his APC membership card on Friday during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Jos, the Plateau State capital, an event that publicly confirmed his defection and signaled a significant realignment in the state’s political landscape.

Explaining his decision, Mutfwang said the move was driven by the need for purposeful leadership, clarity of direction, and a stronger alignment with the policies and programmes of the federal government aimed at accelerating development and improving service delivery in Plateau State.

His defection came about three weeks after Nentawe Yilwatda, the national chairman of the APC first announced that the governor had joined the ruling party.

Yilwatda made the declaration during the APC national caucus meeting held in Abuja in December.

“With the defection of Governor Mutfwang, the entire North-central region is now governed by the APC,” Yilwatda said at the meeting, describing the development as a strategic gain for the ruling party.
