Mrs. Regina Akume, wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and member representing Gboko/Tarka Federal Constituency, has publicly declared that her marriage to Senator George Akume remains intact, dismissing speculations surrounding his family life.
She made the declaration during a New Year Mass, where she addressed worshippers in a video that has since circulated widely. Speaking with emotion and resolve, Mrs. Akume insisted that her family remains united despite public commentary and rumours.
“I want the whole world to know that I still love Mr. George Akume. He is my husband,” she said.
While addressing the congregation, she pointed out members of her family seated in the church, identifying them as her husband’s children and mentioning them by name to underscore her claim.
Mrs. Akume firmly rejected insinuations that her marital status had changed, stating that she remains married to the SGF regardless of public opinion.
“That is my man and my husband. I have no other husband but him, and I am not bothered by what people are saying,” she declared, drawing applause from congregants.
The federal lawmaker also used the platform to share her testimony of overcoming a recent health challenge, which she described as a trying period that tested her faith.
According to her, she has since received divine healing and fully recovered.
“I thank God for healing me and restoring my health,” she said.
She further reaffirmed her Christian faith, describing God as supreme and unmatched in power.
“He is the Almighty Father. There is no one like Him, and no power can be compared to His power,” she stated, adding that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross remains the ultimate act of redemption in Christianity.
Her public declaration comes amid heightened public attention on the Akume family following reports that Senator George Akume recently took another wife, a development that has sparked widespread debate within political and social circles.
