Jigawa Police Nab Five Drug Suspects, Seize Over 2,000 Illicit Substances in Statewide Raids




The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested five suspected drug dealers and recovered a total of 2,188 assorted illicit substances during coordinated operations across the state.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the arrests in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday. He said the suspects were apprehended in Gumel, Maigatari, Sara and Gujungu towns as part of the police’s sustained clampdown on drug abuse and trafficking.
According to the statement, the operations were carried out simultaneously in the affected areas, leading to the arrest of Sadik Yahaya, Musa Isiyaku, Dauda Yakubu, Auwalu Lado and Habibu Abdullahi.
Items recovered from the suspects included two wraps of cannabis sativa and 2,188 different illicit drugs.
Commending the officers involved, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Dahiru Muhammad, praised their professionalism and commitment, reaffirming the command’s resolve to protect lives and property throughout Jigawa.
He also appealed to residents to continue providing timely and credible information to assist the police in preventing and detecting crime.
The police commissioner added that the suspects would be arraigned in court upon the completion of investigations.
