Delta Troops Bust Notorious Gang, Recover Multiple Firearms in Oshimili North (Photos)



Troops of 63 Brigade/Sector 1, Joint Task Force, South-South, Operation DELTA SAFE have dismantled a criminal gang and recovered numerous arms and ammunition in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Captain Ilyasu Bawa-Rijau, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for 63 Brigade, disclosed in a statement on January 3, 2026, that two suspected gang members, believed to belong to a notorious cult group, were arrested following actionable intelligence on criminal activities around Ibusa.

The operation yielded several firearms, including two pump-action rifles recovered directly from the suspects, alongside three additional rifles reportedly seized from local vigilantes. The arrested individuals and recovered weapons have been handed over to the appropriate agencies for further investigation.

Subsequent follow-up operations led to the recovery of eight more pump-action rifles in Umuisiagba. Thirteen suspects were detained in total, including Nwaokonta Elvis, Obi Victor Woke, Uba Elijah, Nonso Ibiora, Dumbili Ezefili, Ndefu Ifeanyi, Ozemene Richard, Broderick Patrick, Nwaokonta Afamefile, Kelvin Ejiani, Victor Ogochukwu, Ogadi Kelvin Ikechukwu, and a native doctor, Ndibuisi Obiogonna.

Brigadier General MA Shonibare, Commander of 63 Brigade, commended the troops for their vigilance and urged them to continue targeting criminal networks in the region. He reassured residents of Delta State and surrounding communities that the brigade remains committed to safeguarding lives and property.
