Carragher Demands Immediate Benching of Liverpool’s €137m Star Slot!

Liverpool icon Jamie Carragher has shared his thoughts on team selection with Reds manager Arne Slot following their UEFA Champions League loss to Galatasaray.

After Liverpool’s narrow 1-0 setback against Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, fans and analysts alike voiced their opinions. Among them, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher suggested that Arne Slot should consider removing Florian Wirtz from the starting lineup.

The Reds battled hard but ultimately fell victim to Victor Osimhen‘s first-half penalty, marking their second straight defeat after a 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace.

Jamie Carragher Calls for Florian Wirtz to Be Dropped

Since his summer transfer from Bayer Leverkusen, Florian Wirtz has yet to find his footing at Liverpool, failing to register a goal or assist in eight outings across all competitions.

Carragher expressed concerns that Wirtz’s current form is disrupting the team’s flow. “At this moment, the team’s balance feels off, and the most noticeable issue is Florian Wirtz – he’s clearly not performing at the required level,” Carragher told CBS Sports.

While acknowledging Wirtz’s promising future, Carragher emphasized the need for immediate action from Slot:

“He’s a young talent adapting to a new league, with plenty of time ahead to develop as a Liverpool player.

However, for now, I believe he should be taken out of the starting lineup. The manager must make adjustments to restore the team’s balance.”

This loss intensifies the pressure on Liverpool as they prepare to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this weekend.
