Following the death of Pablo Escobar in 1993, his sprawling estate was left deserted, later transformed into a theme park. Recently, the government declared that portions of this land will be allocated to female farmers who endured hardships during Colombia‘s internal conflict.
Once the residence of Colombia’s most infamous drug kingpin and leader of the Medellín cartel, Escobar amassed immense wealth, with Forbes estimating his net worth at $25 billion during the late 1980s. His estate, famously home to the so-called “cocaine hippos,” now represents a new chapter as it is repurposed to support women affected by years of violence.
