The Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, has officially approved the amended 2025 budget totaling N43.29 billion, as ratified by the State House of Assembly.
The signing ceremony took place on Wednesday at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi, with the Speaker of the House, Alhaji Usman Muhammad-Zuru, alongside other members of the legislature in attendance.
Governor Idris expressed his gratitude towards the lawmakers for their collaborative spirit with the executive branch, emphasizing that this harmonious partnership serves the best interests of the state’s residents.
“I commend the House of Assembly for diligently fulfilling its duties and maintaining a close working relationship with the executive to enhance the welfare of our citizens,” he remarked.
“This assembly has consistently proven its dedication to the people. Since the start of this administration, we have maintained a smooth and cooperative engagement without any conflicts,” the governor added.
He further highlighted that every proposal submitted to the House undergoes comprehensive legislative scrutiny, reflecting the assembly’s commitment to transparent and effective governance.
Prior to the signing, Speaker Muhammad-Zuru reaffirmed the legislature’s ongoing support for the executive’s development agenda across Kebbi State.
He noted that the revised budget was the result of thorough discussions aimed at ensuring alignment with current economic conditions and strategic development goals.
During the plenary session, the House also reviewed a motion presented by Hashimu Usman (Yauri-APC), advocating for the renaming of the newly established Government Girls Secondary School in Tsamiya, Tundi, Yauri Local Government Area, in honor of the Emir of Yauri, Dr. Muhammad Zayyanu-Abdullahi.
Consequently, the institution will now be known as Sarki Muhammad Zayyanu-Abdullahi Girls Secondary School, Tsamiya, Tundi, Yauri LGA.
“Following careful consideration, the House forwarded the N43.29 billion revised 2025 appropriation bill to the governor for assent, in accordance with the stipulations of the 1999 Constitution (as amended),” Muhammad-Zuru concluded.
