Enzo Maresca Shares Exciting Player Updates Ahead of Showdown with Liverpool

Enzo Maresca gives players update ahead of Liverpool clash

Chelsea FC’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, has provided the latest update on player fitness ahead of their upcoming Premier League clash with Liverpool.

During his pre-match media briefing on Friday, October 3, 2025, Maresca addressed the squad’s availability for the high-profile encounter against the reigning Premier League champions. He confirmed that Cole Palmer remains sidelined due to injury and will miss the Liverpool fixture.

He remarked,

“Ideally, I want every player fit and ready because it gives me the opportunity to select the best lineup for the match. Being Chelsea’s manager means adapting and evolving with the circumstances. I’m feeling positive about our situation.”

He added,

“Cole is still recovering. Trevoh Chalobah is suspended. In total, we have seven or eight players unavailable for tomorrow’s game. There’s no new information on Cole’s condition yet; we’ll have a meeting this week to assess his progress and make decisions accordingly.”

Chelsea have struggled to secure a Premier League victory in their last three matches, facing Brentford, Manchester United, and Brighton, with red cards impacting the latter two games.

Maresca also reflected on the disciplinary issues surrounding the recent red cards.

“Each red card must be evaluated individually. There’s a clear difference between dismissals due to poor discipline and those arising from unfortunate incidents, like the ones against Manchester United and Brighton. I don’t believe we have a discipline problem, even though we’ve seen three or four red cards recently.”

Looking ahead, Maresca is hopeful that Chelsea can return to winning form when they welcome league leaders Liverpool in their final match before the international break.
