LAGOS – The Southwest Citizen-Government Summit, organized by the pan-Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere in collaboration with the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission, has been rescheduled. Originally planned for October 9 and 10, 2025, the two-day event will now take place on October 29 and 30, 2025.

Under the theme “Strengthening Democracy Through Dialogue: Assessing Progress, Charting the Future,” the summit will continue to be hosted at the International Conference Centre (The Dome) in Akure, Ondo State, with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa serving as the Chief Host.

Dr. Akin Onigbinde, Chairman of the Summit’s Steering Committee, explained that the postponement allows for more thorough engagement with all involved ministries, agencies, and stakeholders. He emphasized the need to enhance logistical preparations to foster meaningful discussions and to synchronize efforts with the six Southwest state governments and other participating bodies.

Expressing regret for any disruption caused by the change in schedule, Onigbinde reassured the public and stakeholders of the committee’s dedication to ensuring the summit becomes a valuable forum for citizen-government collaboration across the Southwest region.
