Opeyemi Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi and the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 10, has expressed her desire to collaborate with the celebrated actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele, whom she regards as a pivotal mentor and inspiration in the Nollywood industry.
Imisi revealed these ambitions during a press interaction following her receipt of the grand prize-N150 million and a car-at the award ceremony held in Lagos.
At just 23 years old, the reality TV sensation credited her stint inside the Big Brother house for unveiling her acting prowess, which has only intensified her passion for a career in film.
“During my time on the show, many saw my acting capabilities. Even my housemates recognized my talent. I’m excited to embrace more acting opportunities,” she shared.
Looking ahead, Imisi expressed, “Funke Akindele is my primary role model, and I eagerly anticipate working with her. Besides her, Bimbo Ademoye and Bolaji Ogunmola have been tremendous inspirations for me.”
Describing her triumph as a deeply moving moment, she expressed heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming support from fans across the country.
When asked if regional backing influenced her victory, Imisi acknowledged, “That might be true. The Yoruba community is known for standing firmly behind their own, so that likely played a part.” Nevertheless, she stressed that her authenticity and openness were the main reasons audiences connected with her.
“I remained genuine throughout. It wasn’t a strategy; I was simply being myself,” she clarified.
Reflecting on her journey, Imisi extended gratitude to her Celestial Church family for their prayers and unwavering support. She also shared her plans to use her newfound platform to further her ambitions in the entertainment world.
“Fame is a fresh chapter for me. I intend to seek mentorship, keep learning, and grow intentionally. My aim is continuous self-improvement,” she concluded.
