According to reports, Arsenal winger Noni Madueke has suffered a knee injury during the draw against Manchester City and is set for a spell on the sidelines.

ACL fears over Madueke

The 23-year-old England international joined the Gunners from Chelsea this summer. He has gained prominence quicker than anticipated due to Bukayo Saka’s injury, endearing himself to Gunners’ fans in #7’s absence.

Hence, the outcry when Mikel Arteta confirmed he was substituted against Manchester City due to injury, followed by the social media frenzy over rumours of an ACL tear that could have sidelined him for up to a year.

However, the report confirmed that the winger indeed injured his knee. There is no set timeline for his return yet, as the club are still performing tests.

Arsenal suffered from an injury crisis last season, with many key players sidelined due to injury at various points of the season; hence, their transfer strategy this summer was to strengthen their squad depth.

They are already reaping rewards for learning from past mistakes, as they have been able to cope with the injuries to Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Martin Ødegaard this season.

Madueke’s injury also coincided with Saka’s return, with Bukayo dazzling on the flanks in the second half of the Manchester City tie after replacing the former PSV winger.
