Nigerian media figure Teju Babyface has sparked a wave of debate online after advising men against confessing to their wives if they have been unfaithful.
In a widely shared video on social platforms, Teju directed his message to both genders but placed particular emphasis on men. He urged men to refrain from admitting to their spouses when they have cheated, arguing that remaining silent is far less damaging than revealing the truth.
He elaborated that whether infidelity occurs accidentally, impulsively, or intentionally, it is best kept under wraps. According to Teju, disclosing such matters can lead to irreparable harm within marriages and families.
Teju stated, “If you’ve been unfaithful to your wife or husband-especially if you’re a man-never confess. Don’t disclose it to your spouse. It’s one of the most destructive mistakes you can make in your life.”
While some might counter his view by citing religious teachings that promote honesty, Teju challenged this perspective, questioning the purpose behind such confessions.
He argued that those who admit to cheating often fool themselves into believing they are being transparent and genuine, when in fact, they may be acting out of guilt or attempting to manipulate the situation. The desire to confess, he suggested, is frequently driven by remorse rather than true openness.
Teju further emphasized that partners gain nothing positive from these admissions. Instead, such revelations tend to shatter trust, cause unnecessary emotional distress, and can ultimately lead to the dissolution of the relationship.
