The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, has officially declared his departure from the political arena.
Formerly the governor of Oyo State, Oba Ladoja made this announcement on Tuesday during a visit from prominent figures including ex-Vice President Abubakar Atiku, former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, and ex-Senate President Iyorcha Ayu.

Hosting his distinguished guests at his palace in Ibadan, Oba Ladoja fondly reminisced about his political journey alongside Atiku and other leaders. However, he emphasized that his ascension to the Olubadan throne marks the end of his political engagements.

He pledged to dedicate his reign to upholding justice and equity, stating, “I have stepped away from politics. I am no longer one of you in that capacity. Welcome to my home.”

Oba Ladoja continued, “My focus now is solely on serving as the Olubadan. You are all welcome here.”

Reflecting on his political path, he shared, “We began our journey with the Social Democratic Party, endured exile together, and later joined the People’s Democratic Party. When I sought to establish a distinct identity, I moved to the Accord Party, which gained significant recognition locally. I understand how politicians often find their way back.”

He further remarked, “Religious leaders have reminded us that the primary role of leadership is to foster justice and fairness. I am committed to serving the people of Ibadan, Oyo State, Africa, and beyond. I will rely on your guidance and support.”
