Victor Osimhen: Galatasaray’s Race Against Time to Ready Super Eagles Star for Liverpool Showdown

Victor Osimhen, the forward for both the Super Eagles and Galatasaray, is expected to potentially make a return for his team’s upcoming match against Liverpool tonight, according to Soccernet.ng.

The 26-year-old sustained an ankle injury during Nigeria’s recent encounter with South Africa, which has sidelined him since.

Although Osimhen has not yet reached full recovery, there is optimism about his participation against Liverpool. Galatasaray’s head coach, Okan Buruk, acknowledged that the striker is still experiencing some discomfort but remains involved in training.

During a press briefing ahead of the Liverpool fixture, Buruk shared insights on Osimhen’s fitness status, emphasizing the importance of his recent training sessions.

“We will assess how he performed in the last training session today,” the Turkish coach stated, as reported by The Standard UK.

“Osimhen has been steadily training and it was encouraging to see him play 10 minutes in the previous match. We will evaluate his condition today before making a final decision,” Buruk added.

Should Osimhen be declared fit and included in the squad for the Liverpool game, he might still begin on the bench, given the impressive form of Mauro Icardi.

Nevertheless, Osimhen remains Galatasaray’s most potent attacking option, especially as the Turkish Super Lig champions look to exploit Liverpool’s defensive vulnerabilities.
